Convertable car seat question

posted 15th Nov
My DS is 4 months old and at his last check up (on the 7th) he was 14.6 lbs and and 26 in. I am wanting to get him in a convertable car seat in the next couple of months because he is already on the last shoulder strap and his head is only a couple inches from the top. I have a 06 Jeep liberty and the back seat is TINY, the infant seat with the base is so squished in there I worry its not in there safely and when my DD had her convertable seat rear facing in it, it was always a nightmare. I've been reasearching car seats all night and everything I've found says that most any convertible car seat should fit well in a jeep liberty, so my question is, am I putting it in wrong/leaning it back to far? Can someone please give me some suggestions on smaller convertible car seats or maybe give me picutres or links on how its supposed to be angled? TIA!

Most convertibles can be put more upright for older babies/toddlers with good head control. Anywhere in the shaded area shown here:

This means it will often take up less room front to back than the infant seat will. You can go to Babies R Us and try seats in your car before you buy, which could help you find the best fit. Also, you could try seeing a car seat tech in your area that will check everything for you for free. Just put in your zip code here:

Do you have a Facebook?? I don't have experience with this particular vehicle but in the group "Car Seats for the Littles" they have a TON of Child Passenger Safety Technicians who have put just about every seat in every vehicle between them. You can get excellent advice there and everyone is really nice. There's also an album just to show different seats in specific vehicles. There may be some pics in your year/make/model that can give you insight. Good luck!!

Thanks, we dont have a babiesrus around me but I will have to go talk to the technician, it looks like I have been angleing it back too far, I had been going by the little arrow on the car seat but it makes it practically laying down at that point so I get really confused on where its supposed to be.

I love my jeep but its absolutely horrible with car seats, once its paid off im hoping to trade it in for something with a bigger back seat and maybe even a 3rd row but thats still not too huge. Like a durango or something simillar.
