Mirena & pregnancy

posted 15th Nov
I've been reading some really scary stuff regarding Mirena & future pregnancies on here!!   My LO is 4 months going on 5 months & I was blessed w/ my precious miracle when doctors originally thought I couldn't carry a baby let-alone get pregnant. I had the Mirena put in when she was about 2 months & the main symptoms I've had associated w/ it is the monster cramping & ridiculous mood swings. I've been reading that apparently a lot of women had it mess with their chances of getting pregnant once it was taken out?? My question is, who had the Mirena & WAS able to get pregnant shortly after having it removed? I'm hoping to have another baby in 2 1/2-3 years & I don't want this thing to ruin my chances. I have my yearly Pap being done in January so if this thing needs to be taken out we can do it then.

Just an F.Y.I- thinking in the long haul. NOT wanting to get pregnant immediately (enjoying my LO too much for another one so soon).   Just wondering about this thing because I've been reading so much about it on here.

I got it put in when DD was 3 months old, had it in for a month and ended up with PID. I got it removed about a month after that so DD would have been about 5 months old. I then got pregnant when she was 8 months old and am currently 13 weeks pregnant.

After i had my son in march, i got the mirena in may took it out 2 years later in september and found out i was pregnant in october. So you can still get pregnant after. I recently just took it out again and now trying for #3, hoping it don't take long, and it is fast like last time.
Hope this helps

I know now I'm kinda worried. Just a heads up, it hurts like hell going in. I actually cried. Everyone is like, "You had a baby. It's nothing." No one seems to understand that L&D were relatively painless for me. So that thing hurt like crazy. If you do get it, take some Motrin first & after.

@Mommy Ericka- I hope it happens fast!   thanks for sharing. Any "success" stories are welcome.

I had mine put in when my daughter was 2 months, I had it removed in January of 2011, so I had it for about 3 years. It took us 16 months to get pregnant with this baby plus 4 rounds of Clomid. I don't know if Mirena caused problems with TTC but it wasnt hard for me to get pregnant with my daughter. After this baby I am not getting Mirena again, I think I might try Paragaurd.

Wow, 16 months? From what I've read from other women, most have said it took them no less than a year to get pregnant again IF they were able to get pregnant again at all. :/ I'm so conflicted as to what I should do about this thing.

How does it work if it doesn't have the hormones? I didn't know it came like that.
