It's most likely from your letdown. As your supply regulates, you'll notice that he chokes less.

how old is he? your milk is letting down too fast for him, very common especially in newborns. Your milk will eventually regulate, or he'll swallow faster.

you can hand express some first before putting him to breast so he doesn't get the initial let down..

letdown is when your milk starts pouring out. I wouldn't pump.. it'll cause you to produce more milk making the problem worse. I'd just hand express a little first. Or.. when you start letting down (tingly sensation when milk starts coming out), just pull him away for a minute and let some of the milk come out.

nope! those who get sore nipples... tha'ts when it gets better. It's caused from a poor latch... and causes poor milk transfer. If your nipples aren't sore.. and your baby is gagging on your abundance of milk... then things are going fantastic!
