Kids & Gender Stereotypes D&D

I'm putting this in here just in case.

I'm a bad mom because I don't believe in gender rules.   I honestly would not care if DS wore dresses and skirts. Not a single care.

DS loves babydolls, pink, yellow, robots, and cats. I don't see that as boy and girls things. NO, it's KID's things.

He asks me to paint his nails often and I do - apparently this is SO HORRIBLE because "he'll turn into a smurf" 1- Nail polish isn't going to "turn him" 2- I'm a lesbian so pleaaase tell me what would be so wrong if he was gay? 3- THERE ISN"T BOY AND GIRL THINGS! It's kid things.

SmUrf! This annoys me to no end!!

Please tell me I'm not the only one that thinks like this?

You're not. I feel the same way. Toys are toys and nail polish isn't going to make someone gay. People are stupid.

I hate the "it'll turn them gay" my dad thinks if my son sees 2 guys kissing then he's gay. Lmao. So ridiculous.

My son always liked to build doll houses and play with them. He liked boy and girl things. It would piss me off cause family and friends would call him little gay boy. I had a feeling but he was a child. He is 18 now and is gay. Big Deal..For his last bday I bought him what he wanted. Black eye liner, hair straightener and hair spray. Anyways my son playing with doll houses didnt make him gay. Your not a horrible mom. Who care what others say

Not at all! DH starts to have a fit if he'll catch our 3-year-old son playing with his cousin's Barbies or something and I tell him to knock it off. He sees me painting my nails and he wants his painted to...his favorite color is green, so he wants green toenails. I see nothing wrong with that whatsoever! I say you should let kids be kids...let them be who they are, or else you teach them to be ashamed and hide things.

You sound like a great mom. I don't understand how people can disown their children for being gay.

People are just way too homophobic and men can't stand seeing their boys do "girl things"

I encourage my daughter in everything she wants to do. I noticed lately she likes helping me when I build or fix things (like her bookshelf, or the pantry door) So she'll be getting a tool bench and tool kit for Christmas. I also let her pick what she wanted to dress as for Halloween and she chose to be a pirate. To hell with gender stereotypes!

As far as taking care of baby dolls, or wanting to polish their nails or put on make up, I see it more as little boys idolizing and wanting to be like their mama.

Your not my DD likes skylanders, cars, and tools. She helps my husband change oil in the car by giving him the tools he needs. (Nothing else yet because she is 4) She likes wearing boys pants because girl clothes just are too tight. She likes loose clothes always has. She does do girl things but also likes to play with boys toys. I see no problem with it.

The second half sounds like a girl in my sons school. She always wears her hair in a wavy ponytail and I've never seen her in any girls clothes. She is SO freaking adorable!

My sister is 20 and still wears guys' clothes...she'll wear jeans if she has to but she's more comfortable in guys' basketball shorts/sweatpants and a loose t-shirt. I played with power rangers and soldiers as a kid, as well as my Barbies. Kids don't know the difference, it's all imaginative play to them. And even if they do...so what? I wouldn't love my son any less if he turned out to be gay. Not that liking pink and nail polish and barbies is going to make him gay...nor would keeping him from those things prevent it. He is who is is and I always want him to know it's okay to be himself and that he doesn't have to hide anything from me.

My little girl told me the other day that she wants her hair cut. I asked her why and her answer didn't come as a surprise. She wanted her hair cut because it got in the way of her building things so now its just a little undercut bob that I put her bangs in brands. She still says it's too long lol but I can't cut it any shorter and she hates salons she says they stink. And I see no reason why kids have to be stereotyped. I got lucky my husband backs me up on this issue.

That's me. My best friend said I looked like a dyke one night but I don't care.

Yeah. Out of allll of the things a child can do to make some POS mom would disown them for being gay seems so trivial. I will forever love my baby no matter what gender or sexuality he is.
