Explosive poop... Every single day

posted 15th Nov
I'm at my wits end!! DD (usually) only poops once a day. In the morning, on the way to daycare. It's always EVERYWHERE. I've tried bigger diapers, putting a diaper up her back, putting her diaper tight, I always make sure the flaps on the legs are right. She's BF and eats organic baby food once a day. She has oatmeal and yogurt for breakfast. I thought the oatmeal would help with her poop. I'm sick of having to wash clothes every single day because she has a blowout. What else can I do?? When will her poop thicken up or become solid?!! I'm really thinking about buying size 5 diapers to put over her diapers until she has her morning poop session.

Quoting Jas ♥:" What brand are you using?"

This is what I was going to ask! The only thing that kept A from having blow outs was Up and Up

Pampers. They're the only ones that don't break her bottom out. It's like she just fills the diaper up and it has nowhere else to go but out.

is she pooping at the same time every day? Maybe you can alter your schedule a little so she's not pooping in the car. Maybe it's the sitting and squishing.
My dd is 1 1/2 and in cloth we have NEVER had a blow out with cloth( maybe try cloth?) and her poops are almost never solid, always like peanut butter or wetter. idk why.

Yeah Pampers are not good for breastfed poop lol. Try Huggies or Target/Walmart brand. I know for sure Huggies kept the blow outs "in" for us and I've heard from other moms that those store brand diapers worked for them.

Switch to cloth. I only have blow outs when my daughter is in disposable diapers.

I've tried that too. I've tried waking her up later so she wouldn't be in the carseat and it still went everywhere. Her poop is just like you described too. I haven't tried cloth but I'm willing to do whatever it takes at this point.

Bananas might help bind it up a little bit more. Oatmeal will no help because it's had a ton of fiber which will help her poop.
Also, have you thought about going up a size in diapers maybe? Just for that first morning poop.

OT, but once when my daughter was an infant and still exclusively breatfeeding my husband was changing her on her changing table next to our open closet and she exploded yellow breastmilk poop all over the wall, the lamp, the floor and our closet full of clean clothes. It was horrifying.

Did she just start doing this? Or has it been on going with the food she is eating?
I'd also think about changing the brand of diapers. My son can't use pampers they just don't hold his pee bc he goes so much. So we have stuck with huggies since he was born.

I went up a size and it helped but still went out.
I didn't even think about the fiber in oatmeal!! Duh! I mean she's been doing this for probably 2 months but its gotten worse in the past 2 weeks or so.

I'm going to try huggies again. They gave her a rash as a newborn so I haven't used them since.
