ovarian cyst

I went to the doctor today after bleeding for nearly 2 weeks. I have stomach cramps and lower back pain which are only dulled after taking 1200 mg of ibuprofen. She ran tests for chlamydia and ghonnorea (sp?) Both of which were done 10 days ago and negaive. I have BV, but she also seems to think i have an ovarian cyst. My white blood cell count is elevated and i feel feverish and achy.

I am still hurting, and my bleeding is back again. I would attribute that to the pap smear but I have been passing small clots also which i dont think is entirely normal.

Could this all be attributed to BV or should I get a second opinion?
I want to take what she said at face value but my family has a history of endometreosis as well as cancer. It seems odd that she wasnt concerned at all. No chance im pregnant, either.

Have you had an internal ultrasound done?

I've recently been dealing with the same issues (my periods have become HELL over the last few months). I went last week for an u/s and it turns out a have a fibroid tumour that's causing all the pain and bleeding. So, I'd have them do one to check (it also checks for cysts etc.)

No. I went to planned parenthood. She mentioned the cyst as if it was nothing. She did a pap and sent me off with 2 prescriptions. One for the BV and one as a "just in case" on the STDS.

Yeah, cysts aren't usually anything too concerning. I know they can be painful, but it isn't something they really look into unless you have a bunch of them or it's causing tons of issues (very heavy cycles, anemia from blood loss etc.)

I don't understand why they would have you take a "just in case" prescription for STD's....did everything come back negative?

I also have an ovarian cyst (3.5cm) but no bleeding. I only feel a bit of pain/discomfort mid cycle. They found the cyst by doing an internal ultrasound. Im taking provera to help get rid of it.

Im only concerned about it because of my family history. And because bleeding for 2 weeks with intense stomach cramps isnt normal.

Yeah, I would get a 2nd opinion and def. ask for an internal u/s.
