PUPPPS or just a heat rash?

posted 15th Nov
Hoping some experienced ladies can tell me what the difference between the two is? I have had terrible itching underneat my belly where it meets the pubic area, and all over my breasts... it only gets red when I scratch really.. there is no visible rash really. A little bit of red blotchyness on my left breast. But the other one is just as itchy with no discoloration. My midwife says just to put anti itch lotion on it, which I have... but relief doesn't really last long.

I have the same things and found this: http://www.eadv.org/patient-corner/leaflets/eadv-leaflets/atopic-eruption-of-pregnancy-aep/

I just have to lather on lotion several times a day and it's getting better.

I had PUPPs with my third pregnancy and it was just awful! There really isn't anything you can do for it unfortunately.

This is what my PUPPs looked like..

If it is PUPPs it will go away shortly after you have the baby.

That's how my PUPPS started out. It was unbearable. If keeping it moisturized doesn't help, try using cortisone cream. And take Benadryl, it will help a lot. It'll go away after baby is born.

Thank you for the pictures! It doesn't really look like that *yet* but I hope it isn't PUPPs... I guess I will just keep going with the hydrocortisone and wait til my next doctors appointment

Thank you! Did you get it on your breasts too? So it's contagious to the rest of the body, you can't itch? I really hope it doesn't develop more but it sure seems to be getting bad. How do you NOT take a hot shower, it's November?? lol

I had some on my breast, but not a whole lot. I had it all over my arms, legs, and belly (it made my stretch marks so much worse   ). Don't scratch them, it'll cause it to spread. If you absolutely have to have some relief right then and there, pat the area with your palm, but not hard. It won't irritate your skin like using your nails.

Okay, thanks.... could this hurt the baby in any way? I plan on breastfeeding, now Im wondering if I can, I dont want it to spread to her.

As far as I know, it doesn't hurt baby. I breastfeed my son and it never spread to him.
