Quoting wilde_mommy:" DS has never used a bottle, he is strictly breastfed so no bottles or formula what so ever."

the directions say to add breast milk or formula to it, otherwise it'd just be powder. Do you have a pump in order to add some breast milk? Like someone else said, it is safer to spoon feed cereal rather than to add in a bottle anyway. My sister had to do it to her baby when her DD had reflux issues. You don't HAVE to do it if you have no way to pump, or don't feel comfortable spoon feeding your LO though.

I had to start solids at 14 weeks and it helped a lot with reflux and her FTT. Just remember, all of us probably started solids or at least cereal in the bottle around 2 months and we are fine.

Quoting Elliot Reid:" Also my LO was on zantac and rice cereal for reflux, she had it bad, she took the spoon feeding fine and it really helped with her reflux too. Good luck!"

My daughter is on zantac and i add cereal to the solids and its still like puke... Upping the does has not help so they told me they would send her to a GI.

Thank you everyone for your opinions and advice. I think I'll try the spoon feeding with oatmeal, there is no way I would feel comfortable giving cereal in a bottle and I honestly don't want to introduce a bottle at all.

Thanks again everyone

Quoting wilde_mommy:" DS had a check up today to monitor his acid reflux and to see how his asthma is doing. The zantac is ... [snip!] ... a bottle can help with reflux but to attempt to spoon feed a 12 week old baby sounds bat smurf crazy to me. Any opinions????"

i had this problem...one of the doctors at my sons pedi office could not get it through that i only breastfed. I did not do the cereal in a bottle. I would feed him, burp him more often, and after he finished kept him upright for at least 30 minutes. I also cut out spicy foods and stuff that would make it worse for him. He is fine now with just his medicine, but i had to do all that at first and that with his medicine helped a whole lot.
