Wine?

posted 15th Nov
I have been so good and sometimes over cautious when it comes to my son/pregnancy. I don't drink any kind of alcohol, i've learned to drink sparkling juice (sometimes it's dry like some wines.. which helps the wine craving)... my question is... would a 1/4 of a cup of wine just sipping be ok once in awhile? There is a new wine at the winery near by... it just looks so good!..

Yes. Some Dr's suggest it. I did both pregnancies and my children are fine.

I was always told that one normal sized cup of wine was okay once a week, if not encouraged if it's red wine because of some positive qualities it has.

Yes. That would not even affect you or your baby

I personally wouldn't although 1/4 glass of wine is a small amount so some people would say it is fine, however there is a lot of information that contradicts itself about moderate drinking and the advice isn't really clear.
There has been a new study that moderate drinking, 1-6 units a week has been linked with lower IQ at the age of 8.
At the end of the day it's your choice, just research and do what you feel comfortable with.

When I was pregnant in 2000 it was a big deal on new years, and my dr said I could have a small drink if it was under a certain percentage so my mom got me ONE wine cooler. I couldn't even drink half of it and I felt buzzed as PHOOOQUEEE. It was rather amusing, so just keep that in mind if you are driving lol

You're right!! I think i'm just going to keep waiting... I can always have that 1/4 a glass after I have the baby.
