I would say no because mistakes happen. If would be different is something was done deliberately and could be proven.

I think it's situational, but for the most part that company put their faith in you and your their liability.

If you stole, and there was proof... I think you should have to pay.

Actually in most states forcing you to pay back things is against labor laws and illegal.
