Court Notice... need advice.

I live in New Jersey, I went to Welfare when my son was born to apply for Medicaid (health insurace for him through the state).

We finally the approved for the insurance, and his card is comming in the mail, and i get a notice from the Superior Court of NJ saying that me and my boyfriend are summoned to appear in court. Of course I called Welfare to see what was going on, and she tells me its new procedure, that anyone who applies for health insurance has to appear in court.

I know it sounds really stupid, but I dont want to go to court, I just see it as humiliating I dont know, Im scared that they'll will try to get my boyfriend (babys father) for child support, since they already tried that.. I just dont want any issues.

I was thinking of asking my mom if she can put my son under her insurance and ill just pay her the extra amount, but they we will have to pay for prescriptions on our own...

what do you think i should do?

why wouldn't you want child support from your boyfriend?
If you qualify for medicaid why not just appear in court?
It's unlikely that your mom can put the baby on her insurance unless you are on her insurance still (under 19) or your mom has custody of the baby.

Go to court. can you or your man afford this with out the help?

I dont want child support, because he's my boyfriend... we live together, we pay bills together, were engaged.. that would just be dumb. he already supports us both.

And I doubt we would be able to afford it.. we probably could but then would be tight on other things, like groceries and rent... I think we're going to go..

if you live together and he is supporting you already I don't think they will order him to pay you directly for child support....that would be silly.
you should just go to court if you reallly need the help. Do either of you have insurance through your job?

Going to court to get insurance for your child is a very small price to pay for insurance. And your mother is not going to be able to get your cover your son unless she lies-and then she still might not be able to and that is a felony. It insurance fraud.

i went.. it wasnt that bad.. just a 1 an a half hour wait... anyone in the same position.. just go.. its not a big deal

my son just got cut off insurance so my dad has my son on his insurance i dont pay anything my dad just pays for it.But when he see the doctor is $15 and when he goes to the hospital its $50.I liked medicaid alot better but they wont let my son back on it.But my son was on cms which is a branch of medicade and they didnt pay for prescriptions and we didnt know that until my son just got out of the hospital from his surgery and he needed those prescriptions.So i rather have the insurance through the work it is alot better then medicade because then you dont have to chance your baby getting cut.
