Quick question.

My daughter was to have a bronchoscopy done today. They want us there at 11 to put he IV in, but they aren't sedating her until 1. Why does she need an IV in two hours prior to the bronchoscopy?

you have to check in 2 hours ahead because they have to make sure she doesnt eat or drink anything for those 2 hours. If she does they wont do the surgery

Why is the IV necessary though? I'm having a hard time believing she's going to keep the IV in if she isn't being sedated until two hours later.

In case something happens they may not start it right away and for my son they put a Iv dome on his so he could not remove it.i have a pic but I'm on my iPad

They are sedated her at 1, I'm assuming using IV meds..I just didn't know why she had to get it two hours prior, but I guess we'll find out. I'm assuming it's so they know it won't infiltrate (spelling?) or something?

Not sure but I know when I was put under I got iv meds plus a mask over my face each time
