no period..?

posted 14th Nov
Please NO bashing.

I'm curious what the momma's on here think..?
I personally prefer not having a period.. So I choose birth controls that dont allow time for them..

I get a lot of smurf from family and friends about 'how bad it is for you'..
I've talked to 5 OBGYNS who ALL say not having a period isnt BAD for you..
I'm SURE having one is better.
But ive also heard, the periods you get once a month from birth controls arent technically even a real menstrual cycle..

Opinions please..
If you disagree please say so and explain why. NO need to be rude.

I think any hormonal birth control is essentially poison and is going to wreck your whole system. "No-period" ones are significantly worse IMO because they are MORE disruptive of the body's natural systems---messing with nature is gonna bite you in the ass, every time!!!

I prefer to have a period since its my security of knowing I'm not pregnant but my OB told me there is no medical reason for women to have a period.

i think not having one is bad.. its the way of you body pushing out the old and bringing in the new.. i find that hormonal birth controls are also more harming to your body then what doctors like to say..

Eh no periods when on birth control is "ok" because you don't ovulate on birth control so it is just because of the lack of hormones in the placebo pills. Most people would rather have a "period" because it makes them feel better. Even if it isn't a period

I dot mind either way. My periods were always light and barely there with little to no cramping. But the birth control I am on now has stopped them. I guess not having to use pads once a month is nice. But I did how ever like having them because it gave reassurance - "not pregnant" lol. With this BC I have to take a test every now and then to keep my mind at ease.

When you have a medical condition that causes you to not have periods like I do it is relieving to have a period. Because that means your body is working correctly

Docs say there's no reason to experience pain during labor too---but it doesn't mean that there are no risks. Women die, are paralyzed, get infections, have chronic pain or numbness sometimes for years, or other less significant effects...

"No reason" does not equal safe, even if its common and side effects are deemed to be "rare"

your doctor is medically wrong just to let you know.. not getting one at all makes it to where your body never flushes all the bad smurf out.. a doctor i have also told me there was no medical reason to have a vaginal birth.. did that make him right.. no it is what they feel is ok and not ok. just saying.

I tried the Depo shot and that's what she told me when I went on it. I never got my period while on it and on top of having pregnancy symptoms the whole time I totally hated it. I only did one shot and then switched to the Paragard but still have not gotten my period back after 2 1/2 months. It really sucks and I just want it to come back so I don't have to worry anymore. The only time I enjoy not having a period is when I'm already pregnant or bfing so I know I'm not possibly pregnant lol.

I was just about to say this! The uterine lining would just keep building up and then eventually have to have a D&C. I don't know if birth control makes your lining build up though/

i still find OBGYNs to be a bit slow.. in my hole life i have found on good OB and he delivered my 3 month old.. and told me hormonal birth control can kill so i was good for choosing the paraguard.
