pumping

I am 4 days PP and milk came in yesterday, ferociously! Should I wait till i regulate my supply before pumping to stock up? or can I pump now to relieve the engorgement. TIA

If you are engorged you need to pump to alleviate the pressure and prevent mastittis (sp?). It will help your baby with their feeding as well because it won't shoot out at 90mph when they start to nurse, hahah, I had that problem alot with DD and didn't know what to do at the time.

Pumping will tell your body to make milk when you dont actually need it. You just want to pump/hand express just enough to relieve the pain/engorgement but not like a full pumping session.

Jst enough to relieve pressure. Keep it refidgerated all day and then u can freeze it altogether at the end of the day so it's all the same temperature and same day milk. I froze mine in 2-4 oz increments.
