My parents lived pay check to pay check and we weren't on welfare.

Quite a few people I have talked to on here don't count Medicaid, Food Stamps, or WIC as assistance. It it.

You too please explain how someone living paycheck to paycheck is able to afford health insurance and any other unexpected bills.

That's why I said *almost* everyone.

Okay, and? I already addressed the op and am now commenting on another discussion point that was brought up.

I neer said they were. I said most. Not all. How did they provide you with a college education living paycheck to paycheck?

I was under the assumption that "paycheck to paycheck" meant that after paying ALL your bills (maybe health insurance is included in those bills) that you have little money to live off of until the next check..

Yeah I think a lot of people do not count medical as assistance. That is their 'right' correct?

Some people yes, some jobs do not offer it.

What about unexpected bills or college?

That is most likely government assistance. Your parents could not afford to provide their children with an education so the government and others pick up the slack.

I am lucky enough to not have to work since I am graduating next summer and dh makes 10k more than my father.
My father makes a decent amount and uses grants to pay for his school since he went back.

Both of us always have savings in case something comes up ;)

My sister and her fiance do it just fine and my sister has PCOS and goes to the doctors for it - they don't receive any sort of government assistance. They just budget what they have and if something unexpected comes up, one of them takes a few more hours until it's paid.

This is what I thought as well.

When we were living pay check to pay check at one point. We would pay all the bills and then have the rest for food, bare minimum, but we got by. I was pregnant at the time and we had our daughter too. No assistance either. But no extras.
