That is really smurffy. I have never heard of them being made to go but then again DH had to either or what your Dh did this year. Our ball is this weekend and we're going but mainly because I've never been to one.

My husband didn't want to look like a dick in front of his junior sailors either. He has worked really hard to earn his position as LPO for his clinic despite there being a couple corpsman of higher rank that were up for the position so he doesn't like to ruffle feathers. He was told it was mandatory, i'm sure he could have found an excuse; but he didn't.

DH got out of the marine corps 2 years ago. He was in a smurffy unit on the east coast. I went to 2 balls while he was in. I would love to go to another one, but DH cant fit in his blues. They have one for the IRR but DH isnt about the marine corps anymore.

I'm not going to argue with you or anyone on something I know of. Rawkel has been in for nearly 5 years and Dh has been in for 4. The Marine Corps is not it's own branch. It is a department of the United States Navy.

His unit was smurffy and never raised money and on top of that, it wasnt even open bar! you had to pay for all of your drinks and our tickets were like 70 bucks a piece or something crazy. it might have been 100 a piece. plus we had to drive like 2 hours away to get to it.

Ew, that's lame. This unit is smurffy and I guarantee will have a cash bar as well. Not that it matters as neither DH nor I drink but still.

Oh I don't mind at all   I didn't go for a couple of reasons. Mainly because tickets were $65 a piece and I'm cheap as HELL, and the other reason is because I didn't have a baby sitter for DS and I didn't want to pay someone I don't know to watch him   So DH is giving a ride to 3 of his other junior sailors and they are all leaving around 10pm. Plus the ball is over an hour away in a neighboring town!
