It's UNDER the Department of the Navy. But it's not a DEPARTMENT of it. Jeez. The Marine Corp branched off from the Navy and is now UNDER the Department of the Navy. But it is it's own separate branch.

Dude, the Marine Corps is a department of the Navy. Yes, it is. There is no difference in the usage of words. It is the same thing.

true, but no one wants to clean or serve people in their own unit. so basically there really wasnt a choice lol.

i think my brother was made to go one year too.

I think the reason my husbands unit had to go was because they didnt raise any money for the ball so they had to make it up somehow.
