Antibiotics & Birth Control

Okay, I'm never on here; but was wondering how many moms on here got pregnant while taking the pill and on antibiotics!? I was sick at the beginning of the month and was out on amoxicillin and forgot completely about it interfering with birth control. Now I'm freaking out:/. Help!?

I was on 2 different antibiotics and didn't take the pill at the right time. I never got pregnant. I did however get pregnant 2 months later after missing a couple lol.

I haven't been on here forever!! Sorry I haven't updated, not currently pregnant and not ttc! Just could figure out where to post this at :/

Antibiotics completely cancel out bc. If you take a bc pill and then an antibiotic, it's like taking that bc pill never happened. I have two friends that got pregnant that way.

Rifampin is the only antibiotic proven to effect birth control, and it's used to treat tuberculosis.

That's why I came here... Because I read both that it does and doesn't affect birth control. Figured I would ask you ladies and see who gt pregnant while on it:/

It does affect it. It also has to do with how long you have been on bc and how consistent you have been, also.

I've been on the pill since August, when I had my mirena removed. I've only missed one pill when I first started taking them... I just have started having some 'signs' peeing a lot, heartburn, crampy feeling with no bleeding, although my period isn't due yet I'm freaking out....

Yeah but the bc pill will also give you false pregnancy symptoms. I took ot as a teen and thought i was pregnant while i was on it but i wasn't. It's the hormones in the pill that make you feel that way.

Yes, while on the pill after my first daughter I had that happen. Which obviously I'm hoping is the case now  . But the heartburn has me freaked bc I only ever get it when I'm pregnant. I can eat hot sauce, anything and no problem... Til I'm pregnant but I'm thinking its all in my head and that my period will be here soon... Just wanted to see if you all thought antibotics affects birth control or not :/. Thanks y'all!!
