Question for Photographers

I'm no professional, but could you post some examples of your photography? Ones you like and may not like?

have you ever taken any photography classes to help improve the things you dont like about your work?

Honestly...I feel like a lot of photos are very photoshopped and fake to get that "wow factor"

Post some pics of your work though!

I think you can teach yourself technical ability but I think you can only learn so much creativity. The creativity and imagination is the part you're born with. Anybody with a decent level of intelligence can teach themselves the technical side of it. I think you have potential based on what I know of your photographs.

I dont charge much yet, because I lack the confidence. I think that I just expect PS to help once I've taken the pics, and I really haven't taken the time to learn the technical aspects, which is what I really need to do.

I did a newborn shoot for the first time, and IMO, it was a disaster, and I'm actually redoing them this weekend, but I completely lack confidence at this point.

For those who say that I can learn and there is potential, etc... do I keep going or do I stop? I feel like I should "get it" by now....

IMO, they just lack the look of professional pictures....  

I think you're being too hard on yourself.
Everyone has to start somewhere, and everyone moves at a different pace.
Sometimes you get in a slump and that's okay. Wait it out and give yourself a break from stressing over getting "perfect" photos.

What I do a LOT is just look at inspiration online. I love flickr and deviantart.

First off, newborns are pretty much the most difficult portrait session you can shoot. Especially because there are a lot of amazing examples out there so it's easy to get frustrated when you can't automatically produce the same results. It takes practice and great routine, plus some sessions are just better than others.

Everybody's journey follows a different path. There isn't an expiration date on when you have to be to a certain level or you quit. You should do it first of all because you love it. Because if you don't love it, trust me, it won't be worth the hassle of running a business. What I suggest is make a list of things you feel you're GOOD at AND things you feel you can improve. Then you go down the improvement list and tackle them one by one.

I have a Nikon 3500 :/ It's pretty outdated and total entry camera.

I think you've got the potential. Don't give up on something that you are really passionate about. Your photos aren't awful.

3500? Do you mean D3000 or D3100?
