Does being active bring on labor?

posted 14th Nov
Simple question. I'm tired of waiting. Will being active bring on labor any sooner, yes or no? Opinions, facts, whatever. Just don't be rude thanks(:

*One doctor said baby will be early, two weeks ago. Today's NP said baby will be here in a couple weeks which is exactly when she's due. *eye roll* Thanks Docs.

Nope, not unless baby is ready. I was super active and went 6 days over.

Doctors can't say when a baby will get here.

Being active is recommended for all stages of pregnancy, so you should already be active and have been active.

It helps prepare your body for labor by keeping your healthy, but it does not cause labor. It can help labor progress once it starts, but it won't make it happen.

you're not going anywhere until your baby is ready.

I walked a mile a day, had sex frequently, did nipple stimulation, ate my weight in pineapple and spicy food. NOTHING. My daughter was still 10 days late.

Besides, you could still be pregnant for another month. However tired you are of being pregnant doesn't do anything to make you less pregnant.

I had to stop working cause I'd get too dizzy, blurred vision, hard to breathe. So now I sit at home. The most active I get is grocery shopping and cleaning the house which is pretty often for both, and even doing just those I get a light feeling. I'm just a planing type of person and I like to be sure of things. Oh well, I shall wait on baby to make her decision. Hopefully she can stay out of my ribs. Thanks guys

If it did, that would be lovely. Haha

I was on full bed rest and my doctor still told me to find ways to keep active. I was passing out too and had a tilted uterus and issues with my placenta. It sucks, but you have to do what you need to for the baby.

Oh gosh :/ I'm sorry. Silly babies complicate things before they even arrive. I'm not on bedrest, but I feel like I am because I'm not working. I hate not working.

We are due the same day and I have been doing everything I can to bring on active labor since my body is on the verge of it and has been for a week now. I have been using EPO to help ripen my cervix. I know I won't be allowed to be pregnant for another month as one other poster mentioned. I have geststional diabetes and won't be allowed to go over 40 weeks and will actually be setting up an induction date at my appointment tomorrow (and I don't care what anyone has to say about being induced before 40 weeks). I am hopeful that I will go into active labor naturally but it seems as if this pregnancy is going to go (labor wise anyway) the same way it did with my DS I have been in prodomal labor for a week and a half so the pitocin will be just what I need to go into active if it doesn't happen on its own.
I have tried eating spicy food, balsmic vinegar on salads, drinking coffee, labor cake, break your water cookies, oregano, basil, walking, yoga, sex, you name it I have given it a shot (other then castor oil I refuse to try that it's gross and has a great potential for the baby to poo before birth). I have been active my whole pregnancy other then the very beginning when I had hyperemesis and was in and out of the hospital and very very weak! So far nothing has worked I go to bed everynight hopeful that I will be waking up and be in labor instead of waking up and having to pee and not being able to go back to sleep because I have insomnia. Today I feel exceptionally good which is not normal these last few weeks so I am hopeful that it means something, but most likely that I just got a fair amount of sleep last night lol. Good luck our LO's will be here soon.

It's hard not working, especially when you're pregnant and you feel like you need to more than anything.

Stay active, yes, but also take it easy. You'll be surprised how much you miss being pregnant once you finally see what your baby looks like and get to hold them.

Oh my gosh, haha, I guess waiting is really all we can do. Well goodluck with your situation and your LO to be! And yes, they better be here soon, haha, I'll be annoyed if my little girl is late. Very irritable I feel I will become. Which sucks for everyone around me.
