Parents of kids with close age gaps and further age gaps
posted 14th Nov
I guess what I'm asking is, for moms who had maybe a few kids close together then waited a few more years and then had another kid far apart, which they preferred?
Currently my kids are 5, and my youngest is almost 3. They are 2 years and a few months apart which I consider a decent age gap. Due to our current situation, dh getting laid off a while back and me going to go back to school and get a career, we aren't planning on another until we are financially settled. So probably when our son is 5 we will ttc. Do you think it would be odd with my current kids by that time? We are planning on the next two kids close in age. So my two oldest are close then a gap then the last two close. Sorry if it all sounds confusing and jumbled lol

My step sons are 14 and 10. Our kids are 4 and 12 days old. I like the gap

DD and DS are 6 years apart. She's a big help. If we have another it'll be in about 3 years, so all of them will have a bit of a gap. I like that better than having them too close together. Only 1 in diapers at a time, the bigger ones can play on their own, or like now, DD is in school all day, so I get baby time. When she gets home she plays with him and hangs out with us while she reads/does homework.

I have 3 kids. There's a 4 year gap between my first 2, and 19montjs between the youngest 2.
I prefer the larger gap by far. It's hard having 2 under 2. I'd NEVER do this again or recommend it to anyone lol. They're 23 months and 3 months so I don't know what it's like when they're older.
The way you're doing it sounds ok though. You have a smallish gap so know what it's like. I'm waiting for my youngest to start school (or be close to it!) before I have my last baby.

My kids are all close, so I can't say much from a parent POV. But, I'm the youngest of 4, my sister is 2 years older, my brother is 10 years older (we don't have much contact with my half brother who is 15 years older than me). I have just as close a relationship with my brother as I do my sister. They're both my very best friends My brother actually pretty much raised us when we were really little, since both my parents worked 2 jobs and we lived in Buttsmurf Expensive California.

Well, I was the far apart kid in my family. My brothers are 2 years apart and I'm 6 years apart from the younger brother and 8 from the oldest. I was always left out and didn't start talking to my brothers until a few years ago.
My SO has a little sister who is 16 years apart, another sister 6 years apart, and a brother 4 years apart. They are all very close.

Yeah, that's kindve what we want to,.for the little guy to be in school full time before we do again. I would love the independence of him doing homework while I tend to the baby or something. I def don't want them too close, the last two probably 3 years apart. Im thankful they are both potty trained.

Yes, that sounds great. I just worry about them being close you know? I think it would be nice having them older as they will be more involved in the process.
