Paleo Diet

posted 14th Nov
I wasn't sure where to post this as it falls under more than one category.

For those of you who have done the Paleo Diet, how was it? Is it easy to stick with? What results did you see? How fast before you saw results? Is it healthy?

I've done the South Beach Diet and lost around 15 pounds earlier this year. I've kept it off but I'd like to lose more weight. I just can't seem to stick with it this time around.

TIA.

Watching because I'm interested in trying it too. This, or the hcg diet, maybe.

IMO it's a VERY good way to eat. However, it isn't for weight loss specifically, it's really just for health. It is hard to stick with it, it is expensive, and it is very time consuming if you want to move past just salads.

However, I don't think I've ever felt "better" then when I ate paleo. If you eat a good balanced meal on it, then it's a good program. If you eat just bacon and meatfried in oil, then it's not so good.

From a friend of mine that has done it, it's not a diet it's a life style change. She said she's never felt better though and her kids almost never get sick

Ah. My bad. I thought it was a weight loss diet. What healthy diet (other than South Beach Diet) would you ladies recommend? I have an injured foot so working out is NOT an option for the foreseeable future.

HCG diet. You can only eat 500 calories a day and you take hcg drops or injections and you don't have to work out.

Well basically? Portion control. Seriously. I do weight watchers and it works great, but at it's core it's just portion control.

paleo can be a great option for weight loss because its about eating whole natural unprocessed foods. you eat a lot of lean protien and fresh fruits and veggies. to make it about weight loss all you have to do is count calories and make sure you get your macronutrients right. its usually about 40% protien, 40% carbs, and 20% fats.

This is true. Any diet with portion control can be about weight. I was just meaning that some people do it TO lose weight, and that doesn't always happen. Especially since part of the idea is eating lots more muscle building foods and if you can't work out, you really need to make sure you aren't overdoing it.

Though, with all the protein you get full a lot faster.

I just meant that don't expect to eat all you want on paleo and lose a TON of weight. It doesn't always work like that.

I eat low carb clean (no processed), whole foods. It's pretty similar to paleo. I love it. You have to be committed though, no half-assing it or it can become really unhealthy.

Really?

You're recommending it based off 8 days? Seems a little early to be singing it's praise. Starvation can net you a 6lb loss, doesn't mean it's good or can be continued long term.
