screaming/crying baby

My little boy is 3weeks old and I'm trying to get him to not cry when he's not in my arms. I'm constantly trying to stop him from crying and I've tried lots of things e.g dummy, blanket, a piece of clothing that smells like me and even re-positioning him but after 2mins he realises he's not in my arms and cries again. Do you think it's bad of me to not cuddle or hold him when he cries? I've also just started putting him upstairs in his moses basket when he cries and only bringing him back downstairs when he's quiet. Am I doing the right thing or should I just cuddle him? What other way can I stop him from crying all the time?

I don't think its bad. We all need time to do things around the house without our babies. We can't say if you are doing the right thing since what may be the right thing for one family isn't the right thing for another. As long as your baby is getting what he needs (diaper change, food, etc) and is in a safe place when you let him cry I think its fine. Good luck!

Also, what is a dummy?

You could also get a front/back carrier and hold him that way. I did that at times and it helped a lot

It's what they call a pacifier in the UK and Australia

He's only 3 weeks old. He may be crying because he misses the comfort of being in your belly. They're only so little and cuddly for a short time, I say enjoy it.

People say not to let him cry and as long as you're not leaving him to cry for hours, having a bit of a cry is ok. Things need to be done, not everyone can sit and hold their baby all day!
Do you swaddle? Have you tried a front back or moby wrap?

My baby is 3 months and she won't take a dummy either ugh!!! My other 2 were dummy babies, I'm sure I've bought every dummy under the sun and she won't take any kind!

I'm scared.   I haven't had a NB for almost 5yrs lol, I've kinda forgot what to do..

I felt like that when I had isla but it all comes back

im not a fan of the cio but sometimes you just have to let them cry. my lo is almost 11 weeks old and he still wants to be held all the time and will barely sleep during the day. so when im trying to do something like making dinner i have to put him in his crib unless id get nothing done
