Carseat question

I know you're never supposed to get a used car seat because you dont know the history of it, etc.

If it is a very good friend or family member that has taken excellent care of it, and know it's never been damaged/in an accident, is it okay to use, or should I just suck it up and get a brand new one?

If you know the history and it's not expired, I would use it.

I'm selling our infant seat to a friend. I would never sell it if I knew it had been in an accident.

I plan on using one my sister in law has. This is my last baby so I don't see a need to go out and buy a brand new one. So if you know that the car seat is in good condition, no car accidents, and the car seat hasn't expired I say go for it!

I reused my sisters as a spare b/c I knew the history.

I wouldn't. They could have washed the straps improperly and affected the verbal safety as well. Or if they put the carrier in a cart at the store, that can affect the latch into the base.

Ok, I never knew they could expire! Does this just mean outdated? With Olivia we just had new ones, so I never thought about it? How do I go about checking?

It'll say on the sticker. Generally 6-7 years after manufacture.

Luckily, her DH is a cop and goes around showing people proper installation and use, so I got lucky there. She takes good care of stuff, and uses it by the book!
