DD has a UTI

posted 14th Nov
and I called the doctor and got her an appt for tomorrow. It just bugs me because every time I take her, she pees in a cup and they send it off for testing. One time she had a UTI according to them. Now I am going to take her again. He really needs to do something though. What? I dont know. He ca figure it out. He is a doctor, but DD takes baths and screams that he vagina hurts. I asked where it hurts and she touched the part where pee comes out. I just knew it was probably a UTI. She is always asking for baths because her vagina hurts. She has a smell to her that smells like dirty feet. I bath her daily and the smell will come back a few hours later. What the hell can I do to get someone to find out what is wrong with her? Just looking at her vagina and telling me it is vaginal discharge is not the answer I want. That is all her doctor does.

She should take showers as opposed to baths, especially if those baths have bubbles in them. If you do use bubbles, that could very well be the cause of these.

The baths could be causing the frequent UTIs.

Cranberry juice, or pills. They helped when I had one.

She has been taking showers for a year now. Just the last couple of days it has been baths because I dont know what else to do. I figured sitting in water would help, but no.

If she's really prone to them, make sure she drinks plenty of water every day. Also, start her on a cranberry pill, or even real cranberry juice if she likes it. It won't cure the infection, but it can help to prevent them in the future.

Yeah, cranberry juice may help with the discomfort, if she'll drink it, but it won't cure the UTI.

OP, how many UTIs has she had this year? Ask the doctor to check for vesicouretal reflux. It's when the ureters back flow into the bladder and cause recurrent UTIs. I hope you get it figured out.

Thanks. I will go see if I can find one today and just take her to the doctor tomorrow. If he just examines her vagina again and tells me she has normal vaginal discharge, I am switching doctors.

This year...according to me? Four.
According to him? One.

I will jot that down and talk to him about it. Thanks.

My daughter was getting then frequently. We started giving her a cup of cranberry juice every day or two and haven't had an issue in a year.
