Picky eaters *help*

posted 14th Nov
My son is almost 4 years old. He is super picky about food. He only eats certain things all the time and im sad to say its not usually the healthiest foods. If i make food for DH and i, i have to make something else for my son because he doesnt like anything. I make him try things sometimes but he will usually spit it out because he is so set on not liking it before it hits his mouth.

I have tried telling him he isnt getting anything to eat or drink until he eats his food, but he doesnt care.
Any advice on how to get him to eat better and try new things and actually eat them?

We are so there too, my son is 3 and all he normally wants is veggies, fruit & bread. For lunch he just had a fruit salad & 2 dinner rolls. He never wants anything else! And I'm not complaining that he eats fruits & veggies but there is never variety! And he hates trying new stuff! If I could just get him I try new things I would be so happy

Must be that age, because my DD does the same thing! I rarely make her anything different than what we're having, though. She's so stubborn that she often goes to bed without eating anything, even if it's something I KNOW she likes. It's frustrating, but she eats big breakfasts and lunches, so I'm not too worried about her starving or anything. I just try not to give in and hope she'll grow out of it.

Ive thought about just only making him the foods me and dh eat, but im afraid he wont eat it then he will go hungry. He barely eats ever anyway, but all he eats is crackers, hotdogs, mac n cheese, ramen noodles, spaghetti, cereal.....he eats fruits when i buy them, and he will eat some veggies like pretty much just cucumbers..he has no variety and most of it isnt healthy

Yeah for dinner last night I made meatballs & mashed potatoes and my son wouldn't touch a meatball even though I know he likes them! He are mashed potatoes, green beans and a dinner roll :-/

My daughter is 2 months old, and i told DH yesterday that when she starts eating we are only offering good foods to her so she has no choice but to eat stuff that is good. I made the mistake with my son of not starting him on healthier foods, i dont want to make that mistake again.

I had the same convo about this new baby! When she starts eating we are totally going a different route! I'm going to do baby led weaning so she gets used o all the foods we normally eat. Hopefully my son is still young enough to follow suit as well lol

My DD used to eat really well, but now she's stuck on greek yogurt, applesauce, bread, pasta, brown rice, cheese, crackers, ramen noodles, hot dogs, fruit, a few veggies, cereal, bagels, and a few more things I can't remember.

Have you tried making meatloaf in a muffin pan (I use the aluminum cupcake liners) and "frosting" it with mashed potatoes? That's the ONLY way I can get her to eat meat, since she thinks they are "dinner cupcakes." hahaha One night she had two or three of them!

Well my son is weird and only licks the frosting off of cupcakes, so he probably would do the same with those! lol
