It's different for everyone, mine did immediately. But it broke on its own.
You should hold off as long as you can on the epi because it can slow labor down.

I don't think anyone can really say for sure. It's a person to person thing. I don't know how your Hospital deals with pain management, but mine told me that if I wanted anything for pain, it had to be requested by the time I reached 7cm.

Good luck and hopefully LO will be here very soon

I was induced in August by them just breaking my water. It took 10 minutes for my contractions to really get going. 1 hour and 45 minutes later I delivered

For me, it was 2.16736 seconds when all hell broke loose. I was on a pitiocin drip and wasn't feeling much of anything. With my epidural, I could feel the squeeze from,y contractions after my water was broken on the same amount of drip.

It can happen fast...I went from feeling fine one contraction not really needing the epi to the next contraction climbing the wall screaming at these people to get me some drugs. At that point I was 9cm and too late to get anything. Good luck...easy labor dust!

If you want a epidural ask now, you could progress really quickly from this point.

Oh, and my doctor wouldn't break my water until I got my epi. But I went in at 6 cm and wasn't in active labor until after my water was broken.

Contractions didt start huring till I got to around 6cm...

When they broke them with dean and jade it still took about 3 hours till things started moving fast and painful...
With Maks my water broke on its own and within minutes I was having bad, painful contractions...

If you're on pit anyway, doesn't matter that much. It's easier to sit through getting an epi placed before the pain is out of control. But, keep in mind you lose ability to move around much

Is there any way you can get a roller for your IV and walk around a little? That really threw me into labor right after my water broke. Like, legit ONE lap around the maternity ward (I was actually there to be induced in the morning when my water broke at 2am)

No, she has to be monitored while on pit, though she should be able to walk in her room attached to monitor
