birth control and spotting

Normally I take my BC every night between 1-2am, because that's when I get home from work. Sunday I had left it in my bag at my dads, I wasn't able to take it until 6:30 Sunday morning.. I took it again like normal at 1:30am Monday night. We had sex Sunday night, not thinking about me not having my birth control. Because of PCOS my doctor has me not taking the sugar pills, thus not having a period. Could the spotting be due to the late taking of my pill or should I test in a couple weeks?
