Christmas presents

posted 14th Nov
about how many presents do each of your kids get? I am having a hard time this year. Growing up my sister and I were always extremely spoiled at Christmas time. There were a few years we could not even walk into the living room where the tree was on Christmas morning because the presents covered the entire room. I know that is very excessive but my parents made good money ( a lot more than my husband and I). I don't go that crazy but I have always made sure my son has more than enough on Christmas morning. I am not going as crazy this year though. We just bought a house this summer that we've been putting money into and my car has been eating up our paychecks the last few months. I already have a few things for each kid for Christmas but to me it just doesn't look like enough. How many presents do you get each of your kids?

I tried this but it didn't work because my son is getting a new bike and that alone is almost what I spent on all of his sisters presents

I don't have a set amount and I never really set a budget before hand either. We do tend to get quite a bit at Christmas time but I am a planner and I get things that I know my LO will use throughout the year (and more). We rarely buy toys throughout the year because of this and my LO almost never asks to buy toys when we're out either.

that sounds about right. I'm thinking maybe around $350 for my son and $100 for my daughter since she is only 1

last year my oldest DD had at least 15 gifts to open, and my youngest who was 10months at the time probably had 10 gifts...

I usually dont have a budget i just buy them what they ask for and what i want for them. But money is tight this year so we are setting a budget. they will probably get 6-7 gifts each this year. (gifts they want this year are cheaper, too)

Cecily will only be about 9 months; she has 6 gifts so far, and I need to order her new carseat. I go mainly on a budget, not a set amount.

I wanted to add that everything I've purchased so far has been on sale, or I've used coupons. Her gifts value for about $80 or so and I've spent about $15 at the most.

I go by budget...Usually we buy one or two big gifts, and then the rest are "Smaller" gifts that fit into the budget.

Lucky. This year our budget is smaller & everything they want is more expensive.. they will be getting 2-3 things each & some dollar store stocking stuffers..

This is where I'm at this year. I've never set a budget. My son usually just gets everything he asks for. This year the things he wants are all more expensive and I actually have a budget. And a second kid to buy for.

aw well im sure your kids will be very excited still

we are trying not to put pressure on ourselves this year.... SO just started a new 2nd job and its on commission so the money is slowly coming in. plus our parents both spoil them so it helps us to cut back knowing they will still receive.
