Medicaid and new baby?

I live in MD and I was wondering if my newborn is automatically covered under my insurance? I have tried to call a case worker but she doesn't like picking up her phone I guess :p He has a doctors appointment today I have been trying to get a hold of the case worker for about 3 days now and still no response? I have no idea what to do :p I'm under united healthcare  

Yes. You have 10days after birth to scan the birth cert and whatever they ask for. They'll send you a letter a month or so before your due date

You need to call your insurance and let them know you had the baby and at least where I live you have to take the crib card and footprints to the government building to add the baby to your case.

I have UHC and it covers a new baby for the first 30 days for me

Yes, the baby should be covered. They need to make copies of the paperwork, so you do have to go in and give them paperwork to get the baby on it, though.

Yes. You should be getting a insurance card for him in the next week or so. I lived in MD when I had my oldest.

Well its different everywhere. When I lived in California I had to call and add him to my case after he was born but here in Texas the child is automatically covered for a year one your case even if you become ineligible after your 6 week check up.

I can't get a hold of anyone :p So does that mean the he won't be covered when I go to the docs today and I'll have to pay out of pocket? I understand people are busy and all but it sucks I have been calling like twice a day for the past 3 days and still have not gotten a hold of anyone :p

They don't answer the phone a lot. Your best bet is to go up there. I know when I had my kids, I had to go to the office and get a certified temporary card with their stamp on it. The hospital billed me for their care, but I just had to call and give them the number once I received it.

i live in florida and they add the baby automatically to your insurance here

Okay I guess I'll try to go up there sometime this week but I hope it's not too late I just wish someone would pick up every once in awhile lol!
