paragard question

posted 14th Nov
I've had my paragard in for a little over a month now. My period is due this week and I assumed it came on sunday because of the strong cramping I was feeling (which I normally get when I start my period, but I know it could just be the paragard doing that too) For three days now I've had nothing but small brown-dark brown spots on my pads. I normally have a regular flow and my periods are a bright red. Yesterday when I went to change my pad the spot almost looked black!

Is this normal or to be expected with paragard?

Paragard was great as far as prevention went, but it jacked my periods up sooo bad. Whats happening to you now happened to me frequently. (I had it for 4 years)
My body never adapted I guess.
Every month its was really unexpected as to when my period would come.
The cramps were horrible.
I spotted wierd for days before my period would start and even then the actual period would last about 9 days.
I also like you had a ton of wierd colors whith my spotting. I had clotting as well.

LOL! It does work great though.
Your body might adjust after a few months. (Thats what I was told as well, but I personally didnt)
It is also why my husband will be heading the birth control with a vasectomy as opposed to me getting the IUD again.

Yeah, we want to try again for a boy in about 2 years so that's why we settled with an IUD. After that, I'm getting my tubes tied!
Can you start trying to conceive immediately after you have paragard removed?

Yeah well if this baby stays a girl (lol) then hes getting snipped, but if shes changes into a he then I will get a IUD to try for a girl later on.
We started trying immediately, but it took 4 months to conceive for me I dont know how much the IUD had to do with that, but the dr. recommended to wait a month because some women get pregnant right off the bat and have a miscarriage or so I was told, but I have known people getting pregnant the same month they have it taken out and everythings fine.

Oh wow! when it comes to us ttc, we're most likely going to be laid back about, just do the baby dance whenever we get the chance and when it happens it happens! At least hoping we'll get pregnant within a year of me getting it taken out, if not that's when I'll start charting my ovulation and doing some serious ttc.

Its so much easier to get pregnant when you take the non stressful approach.
The good thing about paragard is thats its non hormonal so after you have it taken out your fertility/ovulation shouldnt be affected by the IUD itself.

Yeah when I heard about paragard being non-hormonal I jumped on it!
My oldest daughter is a depo baby and my youngest is implanon xD so I figured if an IUD doesn't work for me I must be some kind of uber human fertility machine xD

Yeah, DH has talked about a vasectomy too, but his current job's insurance would charge out the ass! He's hoping to have a better job by the time we have our 3rd baby, but even if he doesn't we're not gonna sweat it.
