how much does your 4-5 month old sleep at night?

posted 14th Nov
My DS take 2 two hour naps during the day. At night, im lucky if he sleeps four hours straight, and then its two hour increments after that. There has been two nights that he has ever slept six hours through. I'm a working momma and my SO works nights so he cant help with the baby. I need more sleep! Im getting so exhausted, that I am sick to my stomach all the time. I doze off at work, my memory has been so fuzzy, and im just out of it. I go to bed as soon as he goes to bed (9:30ish) just so I can get as much sleep as possible. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do?

my LO goes to bed around 7-8pm and wakes up around 7-730am. He doesn't nap that well during the day so I'm guessing that's why he sleeps so good at night. He will take a morning nap for about 45 minutes, and then he will take little cat naps here and there.. like 15 minutes only. Maybe you could try reducing his naps? He also gets an 8oz bottle before bed, and during the day he only will eat 6oz, so he goes to bed pretty full.

DS is 18 weeks old, he has never slept for longer than four hours   He used to wake every 2 hours to eat so I'm loving the four hours straight lol. I don't think there's anything you can do to make him sleep longer, babies sleep, wake and eat when they need to.
My only suggestion is maybe who is looking after him during the day to stimulate him more, so he may stay awake longer, but then again if he's tired let him sleep (kinda contradicted myself there lol.) Don't know it that would work, I think you're just gonna have to cope, sorry   It's is tough though I agree, coffee is my best friend!

Helen goes to sleep around 10 - 11 pm and generally wakes around 6 - 7 am. Lately, though , she has been waking for a feed in the middle of the night. She's recently become more mobile, and since I put her on her tummy to sleep, she rolls over, starts flailing, and wakes herself. But it's not bad. We just got lucky this time.

I don't have a baby that young anymore. But, at that age I cut down her naps a little. Maybe just cut them by 30 minutes each to start with and see if that helps.

What time are her naps being taken? And what time does she go to bed?

My son (4.5 months) goes to bed at 7:30 up at 11,2,4 and for good at about 6:00am. He is usually taking 3 naps a day 2 for an hour and one that's 2-3 hours. I have no real advise, but our kids' schedules sound similar.

Is yours not going back to bed in the middle of the night?

My LO is 5 months old and her night schedule is pretty consistent. She goes down between 8pm and 9pm. She used to sleep through the whole night but lately she "wakes up" to nurse once or twice a night. I put wakes up in quotations because she doesn't really wake up. She just stirs around and makes cute little noises until I nurse her and then goes right back to sleep. Honestly, I consider it sleeping through the whole night since she doesn't wake up fully. She nurses around 2-3am and then again around 6-7am. She wakes up about 8am.
She takes a nap around 11am for two or three hours. Then about 4pm for another couple hours. Around 7:30 we give her her bath and then it's night night time!

Well last night, he went to bed at 10, woke up at 1:30 to eat, slept until 4, didnt go back to sleep until 6 (which is when I have to head into work), and now he will probably sleep until about 8:30. I know it wont be like this for long, and it probably wouldn't be as hard if I could nap during the day when he does but at work that just isnt possible. Ill try talking SO into cutting his naps and hope that it will help with his night schedule. (:

This is exactly what my son does as well, except his bedtime is anywhere between 7:30-9:30PM and is breastfed instead. He sleeps all night and he rarely takes naps during the day, one good nap in the mornings and then its cat naps for anywhere between 15-30 minutes each when I feed him.

Plus, his bedtime routine is the same every night; bath, bedtime lotion (Lavender scented) and then he's nursed to sleep every night. I don't switch this up at all and he knows the routine well lol. ( He throws a fit if he doesn't get a bath lol )

And he is 5 months old now, been sleeping through the night since 1 1/2 months old.

Oh yes! My son loves his baths. I use the lavender bath soap and the lotion, gets a bottle and he's out like a light!

The lavender bedtime lotion is the same as his shampoo I use on his little head   I even picked up the biggest bottle I could find of the Johnson&Johnson shampoo that is also Lavender scented, I haven't used it yet since I want to use the rest of the other one first but I love how it helps him to sleep better at night.

Last night daddy forgot to put some on him and it took about a half hour longer to get him to fall asleep without it. So I know it helps him at least lol.

Until my son got his 4mo shots (about a week ago) he was sleeping from between 9-10pm through the night until about 7-9am, somewhere in there.

10-12 hours at 4-5 months. Well she did since birth. She was napping a lot in the day time then too. A few 2-3 HR naps in the day.

She is now 9.5 months and sleeps.10-12 hrs still and has 1 nap a day from 12-4pm every day.

We go to bed around 10-11 and wake up at 8. He nurses all night long but I only wake up when he unlatches and starts crying. This happens probably around 5-6 times.
Sometimes he'll have a long nap or 2 short ones during the day, or none at all.
