Should I pump right away?..

So, my DD is now 2 days old. Last night, she ate for like an hour.. then literally slept throughout the night (8 1/2 hrs) I tried to wake her up to eat, but it is IMPOSSIBLE.. it's even impossible to wake her during the day a lot of the time. She's definitely more interested in sleeping than eating. She's not fussy at all though. I've heard her 'cry' like 3 times total since she came out. She'll root when she's hungry, and eat for quite awhile whenever she does.
Only problem is, my milk just came in this morning. Now it's nighttime & even after she eats (even for an hour) I feel really engorged. I found out my pump decided not to work for me this time around, so I have to wait until tomorrow evening to get another. Can I wait that long to pump, or will I get infected?? Also, should I pump if she's not eating that much, since pumping will just cause me to produce more?? Never had this problem with DS.. He was a great sleeper and a big pig!!

I know moms who didn't start pumping for a few weeks after milk coming in to get the baby used to their nipple. Never did they have any problems..!

My LO did that, turned out her Jaundice levels were high, and it was making her realllllly sleepy. I ended up taking her to Children's where they kept her for six days because she was dehyrated & needed an IV and to be under the lights.
I know, this is not what you asked ! But, I am just telling you because it happened to me.

It's not a problem with her eating.. She's starting to eat more, now that my milk is in. And she'll eat for 45 mins or more a lot of the time! ..And she wasn't jaundice or anything... My midwife said it's normal for her to be sleepy. I just know that if you get too engorged with milk, then it could cause a clogged milk duct. And then clogged milk ducts can lead to mastitis or another infection. So I wasn't sure if I should wait too long to pump, because I'm so full it hurts and I don't want to get infected. Even after she eats, I feel too full!!

Oh, well I pumped since day 3! And, my milk supply is amazing still she's 5 months old.
If I were you, I'd pump for sure.
She was fine when she was born, they sent me home and she wouldn't wake up to eat, and she was yellow.

Okay, thanks! Oh, really?.. yeah I've heard they can show signs of jaundice later on. That's pretty scary!
