What are your reasons not to settle?

posted 13th Nov
I'm a single mom. I recently stopped talking to someone because I realized I was selling myself short and wasting time with this guy. That being said I only want the best for my son and myself. I just need some positive reminders of why I shouldn't settle for less when it comes to a relationship. What are your reasons? Anyone ever felt like this?

You don't want to spend the rest of your life wondering....there is a wonderful guy out there you can fall in love with..you deserve that.

Well uhhh if you know you deserve/ are worth more than what someone is offering why would you want to settle? There are so many fish in the damn sea, why settle for less than perfect or as close to perfect as you can get?? I love being in love with my fiancé! Trust me don't just settle.

Anything less than being absolutely head over heels is selling yourself short.

Everybody can have that feeling. You just have to wait.

Besides, what if you invest yourself in someone because they're there and okay with having a kid around, but not really active in it, and your son gets attached? Then it'll be even worse when you want to leave.

These are the kinds of things I'm keeping in mind. I'm a single mom that's slowly easing back into dating. No dates yet just because I've been so scared dating as a single mother.

Thank u. You're right about all that. I like that anything less than head over heels is selling yourself short. Very true about the whole thing about children getting attached. My hair stylist recently broke up with her bf of 5 years and she'd been with him ever since her son was 2...that's gotta be hard on her little boy. Dating again is scary.

If you feel like you're "settling" for someone, chances are it's not going to last and you're wasting your time. If you go into the relationship already dissatisfied, that doesn't bode well for the future.
