Cold turkey. Have her throw the bottles away tell her big girls dont need bottles and after a few nights of hell she will forget.

why do you want to give up the bottle?? that is most likely her comfort and I don't see why at 1 she still can't have it. She won't be 18 still drinking from a bottle. My daughter is 2.5 and still gets a nighttime bottle, one because I am 35 weeks pregnant and have no desire to battle a toddler over taking the bottle away, two because she won't drink milk from a cup for some strange reason, although I have got her to drink a bit of chocolate milk, and three it is her comfort at bedtime and again I know she won't be 18 with a bottle. She woulnd't wean off the boob until she was 15 months old and I felt like she would breastfeed forever but thankfully weaned herself, your daughter is still so young, I wouldn't worry about it.

I was a sucker too that how my first ended up on the bottle until 21 months. I felt like it would of been way easier had we done it sooner. I had to throw the bottles away so I didnt cave. By night 5 though she was over it and we took her to get a new big girl toy. I wanted her off the bottle before having another baby I wasnt about to have two on the bottle.

This is my thought exactly on the nighttime bottle and middle of the night bottle.. it may be easier to take it away when she is a bit older.. I HOPE LOL

2.5 is a little too pld for a bottle IMO. CNN Health says that you should start the transisition from the bottle at 6-9 months they also say that "It's an important step because prolonged use of the bottle can lead to tooth decay and nutritional deficiencies in young children. Waiting later can make it harder to make the transition, experts say. The pediatricians group recommends babies be weaned off the bottle and sippy cups by the time they are 1."
I took the bottles from my babies just after their 1st birthday. My son used a sippy or straw cup most of the time and didn't require a bottle to fall asleep with so he was really easy. My daughter was a little harder. I threw the bottle away and had to remind her that we didn't have any bottles anymore she would have to use a cup. It took 2 days and she was fine. My twins are 7 months old. I have introduced sippys and will take their bottles at 1.

Cold turkey. Give her sippies all day. Straw ones are good.

My lo is no longer on bottles just sippies all day. But she has been using sippies since 3 month sold. I say cold turkey.

I love when people quote "experts" thanks Dr. Google... I never thought my Clara would be 2.5 with a bottle but if that is the worst thing I've done as a mother I think all is well in our little world, she won't use one forever and whether she drinks 8oz at night in a bottle or in a sippy cup it is all the same nutritional value... as for the rooting teeth, a sippy cup or straw cup is just the same, you just have to make sure they drink some water after and then brush their teeth, it is the letting the child fall asleep with the milk at bedtime where the issue comes in, having a bottle before bed is not the issue...

My Pedi already wants DD to start weaning off the bottle and on to her sippy. (6mo) She wont drink milk out the sippy but she drinks juice and water. She still has her bottles though cus we JUST JUST started the weaning. The nighttime and early morning bottle I dont see a issue with though. If DD wants a bottle at night or early morning when shes 1, she can have it. I doubt shell get tooth decay from 2 bottles a day IMO

I didn't just google it. I actually had to write a paper on it for my nursing class.   I never said you were a bad mother and I don't give my kids milk or juice before going to be without brushing their teeth after. It is actually the sugar that is in the milk or juice that helps lead to the decay. I doubt you are getting your 2.5 yr old out of the bed after the mid-night bottle to brush the LO's teeth.
