How long does it take to thaw a turkey in the fridge? My mom says a week.. that seems like a long time. It won't go bad?

And what is a good injection marinade? There are a ton on Google, but I want a tried and true delicious recipe.

I've never cooked a turkey before.  

My mom always took it out 2 days before Thanksgiving.

What size turkey? The bigger the longer it takes to thaw. I don't even know the pounds... I think 25? Right around there. & We usually let it thaw about 3 days. An entire week does seem a little long...

A week will work. It won't go bad.

It usually only takes about 3 days, I thaw it out until the bag of gizzards and liver can be removed.

For the injection marinade I usually just pull up the turkeys skin a little and take a butter, dill, rosemary, and lemon juice mixture and stuff it under the skin. I makes the skin a little crispy and makes it taste so yummy.

It will be about 15lbs.

I don't have room in my freezer.. so it has to go in the fridge. I don't want it to spoil though.

Most people just throw it in the garage..

15lbs, a week is way too long. Meat goes bad very quickly. I wouldn't trust it after 4 or 5 days..

I live in a townhouse. And it's definitely not cold enough outside to keep it there.

Oh okay, it is cold here that is why I asked.

I would not be putting a 15 pound turkey in the fridge for a week tho.

Could you possibly buy it on Monday and then leave it in the fridge?

We did a turkey not long ago, and took it how 2 days before thanksgiving (ours is in Oct) But then we went to my grammas house and they had a butterball pre stuffed turkey, that you cook from frozen state only, and honestly it was way better turkey. lol

I would not cook and eat a turkey that has been in the fridge for a week, yuck.
