Too much?

posted 13th Nov
So to graduate from highschool we are required to take a dual enrollment course. This means that we take a college class and receive both college and highschool credits. The community college offers a nurse aid program that i really wanted to take. if you pass the class and the exam you are a certified nurse aid which really interests me because i wanna be an NICU nurse. but the spring semester starts january 22 and since i am due the 7th of january the counselors at school dont think i will be able to do it. the class only meet on fridays from 8 to 11:30 but after hearing everyones opinions i dont know if i should do it. do you guys think that it would be too much or is it possible to do?

Is having a nurses aide certification a requirement of becoming a nurse for your college?

I would do it, but thats me, personally. I also have an amazing husband that helps with anything, so, if you can swing it, why not try. Trying wont hurt anything, and you might find it a lot easier then everyone makes it out to be. Motherhood is the hardest job and it starts the day you deliver. A little school is nothing.

I'd definitely do it. I was a CNA before its easy to find work and here you need it or else you have to take the classes for it when you start the nursing program.

By 2 weeks PP I felt great and even after my rough delivery I feel like I could of jumped back into life if I had needed too.

Go for it momma

Spring semester starts in january? Thats odd, my winter term starts in january.
How long is the course? Maybe you can sign up for it now, then once you have the baby, if you don't feel up to it you can just drop it?

I don't know about your college, but mine doesn't require you to become a cna before becoming a nurse. If I were you I'd try taking a class that goes towards your pre requisites for nursing. Maybe a math class or a science class. Or even a psychology class. At my college there is only one psy class required for nursing. It'd be nice to get something out of the way so that you don't have to take as many courses once you get into school.

If you eventually want to be a NICU nurse, go ahead and do the class. Get your foot into the door after you graduate high school. When you graduate, start doing what you have to do in order to become an RN.

If you have someone reliable that you can leave LO with then I don't think you'd have a problem. It's 3 1/2 hours. Once a week. Lol doesn't seem like too much to me.

Yeah, that's common. Winter term usually starts in November.

I really want to do it because i would have a guaranteed job right after graduating from highschool and my parents as well as my boyfriend are very supportive of the decision i make!

Really though, you have to have so many hours of training before youre able to do clinicals so once a week would be plenty of time for your body to heal before clinicals start.
