My Thanksgiving Menu
posted 13th Nov
This year I'm going a little bit non-traditional. We celebrate thanksgiving two days in a row, so I wanted to skip turkey on my Wednesday thanksgiving.
I usually do a turkey with a miso butter rub, but I've decided to do a ham this year that my husband started smoking today.
Here's my menu
Smoked Apple walnut glazed Ham
Scalloped potatoes
Green bean casserole (w no canned ingredients)
Southern Cornbread Stuffing w pancetta
Candied sweet potato/pecan casserole
pumpkin cheesecake
Coconut hot chocolate with almond whipped topping
I am getting hungry just thinking about it!
Anyone else started their holiday meal plans yet?

Most people aren't as cool as me, what can I say.
Jk
I have made my green beans for the past three years with all fresh ingredients and it really makes a difference. Don't get me wrong- I love it with the canned stuff and I make it that way frequently throughout the year. I just always put aside a full two days for cooking my holiday meals, so I have the time to make everything all fresh.

YUM!
We use thanksgiving to use up all our uncanned produce from the summer, lol
lots of mashed taters, (usually all the small ones we harvested)
a homegrown turkey we called Thanksgiving all sumer
lots of peas, squash and other goodies this year.
Its pretty random for us each year! lol

That sounds perfect! I am thinking of raising turkeys next year.

We do ham AND turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas since not everyone in the family likes turkey
I've started my list, but we're going to a friend's and she and I are talking menu on Sunday

Yummy!
This is my first year cooking since DH and I recently bought our own house.
I'm clueless on what to do, to be honest. I guess I'll just be finding a recipe online and trying to follow that.
I told my parents (since they're coming over for dinner) that if I some how mess up, we'll be getting take out. I already made sure the Chinese place near me will be open

Mmmm. Sounds great.
I'm having:
-Turkey Roulade - it's a butterflied T breast that you roll up with yummy sage sausage, fig and cranberry stuffing. It's beautiful and delicious
-Yams with bourbon sauce (just made sauce yesterday and put it in the freezer)
- Brussels sprouts with chestnuts and pancetta
- Red pearl onions, roasted in a balsamic sauce
- mashe potato with leeks and thyme
- pumpkin cheesecake - made last week and froze it
- cranberry and caramel apple pie (making crust and freezing it tomorrow)
I have a bad neck and we are having house guests thru the week so i MUST do stuff in advance.

You guys reminded me that I need rolls! Maybe I will try a sweet potato roll instead of standard potato rolls.
Ps- I love mashed potatoes, and I make the best ones I've ever had (restaurants included) but I make them at least once a week. Also, with having a ham this year, I think scalloped goes best.

I'm in chugiak. We just did goats this year, and I have done ducks in the past so I'm pretty sure I could handle a turkey or two.
