Spontaneous pushing

Did your doctor try to refuse you the spontaneous pushing? What are your general thoughts about it? Would you recommend letting your body do the majority of the pushing? Just curious. It sounds like the route I want to go if my doctor will allow me to. Just wanted some opinions on it from ladies who have actually experienced this. TIA

he didnt have a choice. There was no way in hell I was capable of stopping pushing, my body just said "I got this"... so he shut the hell up and caught my baby.

I've never done anything BUT Spontaneous pushing. I've always told my Doctor it was time to push, let's go.

Well, when I looked it up, it said there were a lot of doctors that will try to force the coached pushing on you cause they don't want to wait on your body. It only makes sense to me to let your body do it.

believe me...when its time, you physically CANT stop pushing. Ive never felt a urge like that in my life.

Yeah, I find that weird that it says that a lot online, but I've never spoken to a single person who told me that's how it was. Everyone says they did it on their own time.

I was coached. The times they told me to push was the same time I felt like pushing, because it was with contractions. However, with my first I had to NOT push when I wanted to and was fully dilated and that is the worst thing ever.

Oh God, you can, but it is HELL! I told my Nurse I HAD to push, she wheels the delivery cart in and walks out. After 20 minutes, yes twenty, I finally screamed that I could hold off no longer and told SO to go get someone, anyone, cuz baby was coming. I had to squeeze every muscle in my body each time the urge came on. I don't ever suggest anyone fighting it, it's the worst thing I've ever experienced.

For sure. NOT good. I did about 2 hours of that. *shudders*

lmao. they were prepping me for a epidural (that I didnt even ask for by the way) and I screamed at them to put it up and get a doctor...as his head was crowning. I didnt even know i was pushing. There was so much panic.

She was a 27 weeker and I was at a hospital with no NICU. We were waiting on the NICU team from another hospital. If I had her before they got there, she was going to die.

It was good motivation, haha. Also, the bag was bulging, so I wasn't allowed to move, or talk, or ANYTHING because if it broke we'd probably have to deliver her right then.

i pushed for a total of 5 hrs straight with my 1st. (he was sunny side up and was stuck completely stuck on my pubic bone) anyway, after about 4.5 hours my body sarted pushing completely on it's own i wasn't doing anything and couldn't stop it, but by that time i was already heading to OR for my c-section (his heart rate was dropping with every push/contraction because he was stressed from the stupid nurses not getting my dr after 5 hrs of pushing! yeah hoping for a successful vbzc this time. lol.
