Skin to skin contact!

Hello girls!
I was just wondering who has done skin to skin contact with DAD?
I have to have a c section and i really want my husband to have skin to skin contact with the baby. I feel that since ive felt her growing and moving he can have the first skin to skin. Has anyone else done this?  

He didn't have the first skin to skin, but he did have it. I BF her, then she slept on his chest, while he was shirtless.

Baby will probably need your boob juice first

but there is plenty of time for skin-to-skin in the hours, days, weeks, and months following birth

I thought about that too when I had to have an emergancy csection. But he wasnt there anyways. lol Then she was rushed to the NICU and I didnt meet her for the first time till she was 6 hours old, then I was not allowed to hold her till she was over 24 hours old. Blew my plans for nursing.

But if you plan to nurse you will be doing that before dad gets to have skin to skin.

DH takes off his shirt when I start pushing so he can be ready (he was gonna catch and then give baby to me after a quick snuggle/smooch.)

It's pretty wonderful, especially if you can't take baby immediately because of needing to be patched up or being moved to recovery or in an emergency.

I really want my husband to have that moment with her. This is his first girl and i just want that bond for him. So does he... My babies never fed right away... It was like an hour after i gave birth that they ate.

DF didn't get first skin to skin, but he did/does do it. At that point, baby wants mommy. Your nipples smell like your amniotic fluid, so he or she knows when it's you and when it's not. When I had DD, right after she came out, they had DF go with her to the nursery and then they brought her to me in recovery so we could snuggle and nurse. It was great! DF still does skin to skin with her. He'll lay on the sofa without his shirt on and have her just in her diaper and they'll snuggle together.
