Lotas birth, delayed cord clamping and different birthing po

posted 13th Nov
I've herd so many different things lately that iv never considered before like a lotas birth, delayed cord clamping, and even different birthing positions that help with the process rather than work against it! I may actually consider the delayed cord clamping, but not so much the lotas birth, that seems a a bit strange.. but have any of you ladies done any of this? Or maybe squatted or were on on fours during the birthing proceeds rather than lay on your back, did you find any it more helpful. did you find the delayed cord clamping worth it?

Different positions are AMAZING! Got my 10lber out if my 5'3 body!

Delayed clamping is a wonderful thing and had many healthy benefits for baby---I plan to do it for my next if there are no extenuating circumstances. Wanted to with my last, but he only made it to 23 weeks.

Never heard the term "lotus birth"---gonna google to see if its what I'm thinking.

I've never done a lotus birth, but I've ready many birth stories where women have. More power to 'em!
As long as there isn't an emergency, there's no reason to cut the cord immediately. Let that good blood flow back into baby!

& as for different positions.. you'll need to feel it out during labor. What you think you'd like to do, may not be what your body is telling you to do, kwim? If you have an epidural, you're extremely limited on how you can give birth.

I wish I would have educated myself with my first instead of doing the "norm"
I don't know what a lotas birth is.. But this time I am doing a home water birth and delaying the clamping and keeping the placenta

Birthing on your back is the absolute worse!

It's some gnarly smurf, man.   I'm not sure I could do it.

*watching*

The risk of a lotus birth is massive infection, with no benefits whatsoever, so I would never consider it. I will be delaying cutting the cord though. I will be having a water birth.

haha im sure it good for baby.. i guess. but i really don't wanna tote around a bowl to carry all the extra.. lol
&& i defiantly plan on getting an epidural.. even though iv herd bad things.. i'm a total sucker with pain...and i'm really considering the delayed cord clamping.. iv never even herd of it until a few days ago..

How so?

I mean.. the cord dries out pretty quickly, just like it would if it were cut. It's not like something can still transfer to the baby after that point.

You won't be able to squat or get on all fours with an epidural.

DD's cord wasn't clamped or cut until it was done pulsing. Honestly when I asked for this my OB looked at me with such a strange look and said he had never heard that one, but he complied and waited.

Everything I've read says the risk of” massive infection” is great, while no benefits come of it. I haven't done it personally though. I am planning on encapsulating my placenta though.

I honestly think that's the best way to go about it.

My first daughter my epidurals didn't work. My second I was 110% numb. So now I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this baby! LOL. I loved my induction/epidural with my second, but I also didn't have the desire to want to walk around or do much of anything.

Best of luck to you!

I just don't get why, I guess.

I'm encapsulating my placenta, too.   *high five*
