Shots 20 of the 40 weeks.. Due to preterm..

I had my son at 32 weeks & 5 days.. Im pregnant with my 2nd & Im 8 weeks. At week 20 I got to start some kind of shots once a week to help with my cervix (if I remember right) . I had a few questions.
1) Where do they give it to you at?
2) Did it work?
3) Was there any side effects?

Also im going to be going to Flordia at the end of febuary I will be bout 24 weeks.. I will be gone a week. How do you think they will go about giving me my shot?

You'll probably get that shot immediately upon returning home and the other one right before you leave.

They should be able to show someone you see on a regular basis how to do it. My husband does mine. The first shot I felt really sick afterwards and cramped a lot that night. Other than that shot I felt pretty good. I don't know if they really work as I am only 26 weeks but I am still having problems even with taking them.

its really not that bad but you get sore after awhile.

as long as you don't tense up it is usually fine, just a little sore. My doc gave it to me one week because my husband couldn't and omgosh!! I bruised really bad and had a huge lump at the site for quite a few days. It was very hard to move my entire leg for like a day or two.

lol I would rather my butt cheek than arm. Just relax, thats really the key to it. The medicine does not burn either.

I just talked to a girl I went to school with that had to have the shots. Her daughter was born at 28 weeks.. She just had another baby at 36 weeks! She told me that she wasnt going to lie to me.. It is kinda a long need with thick medicine but she said I will get used to it. & I just looked at your profile & seen your story about your preemies. Do they know what causes yours? Is this the first time you are getting the shots? They never told me what caused mine

I take the 17 p hydroxy progesterone weekly. I get mine in the buttocks and it doesn't hurt at all, during or after. I do have a large butt though. Not sure if it works. All my problems begin in a few weeks usually. Good luck!

The contents are very thick, but should be injected slowly.
