Should i put him on child support?

posted 13th Nov
I have a court date set next week to go in front of the judge but I'm kind of unsure if I want to go through with it now. Lately BD has been doing a lot better for my DD. He comes over to spend time with her 1-2 times a week, I know its not a lot but it used to be like a once a month or so. Whenever she needs something he goes to the store to pick it up for her diapers, formula, clothes, etc. He never hands me cash but he will go and pick it up on his own. I'm afraid that if I go through with CS he'll stop seeing her all together because he'll be pissed BUT I also feel as if i call off the whole thing he'll have it easy and just disappear if he wanted. What should I do?

Your child needs support from both parents. If he stops seeing his child because he has to support him, he's the smurffy one, not you. I say go for it, that way he can't just do as he pleases or start coming up with excuses why he can't.

If he wants to ruin the relationship with his daughter, that is on him. I wouldnt even want someone around my child if he is going to be like that kind of father anyway. File away. He owes it.

Formula and diapers are nice but that's only a few hundred/ month, tops. Is he helping with insurance, daycare, etc.?
If I weren't with the father of my children, I would want a legal financial agreement to be certain that all of their needs are met.

Child support. If he gets pissed and leaves, that's HIS loss, not your childs.

Do it. I have seen from my ex and his "baby mama" what not taking him to court will do. If he has flaked off once, he will flake off again.

Yes, get court ordered child support. The fact that you said he's been more helpful and invovled with your daughter "lately" makes it clear that he hasn't always been that way, so obviously he has the potential to go back to that behavior. Just make it legal so he that no matter how involved he decides to be in the future, he will still be legally obligated to support her.

Take him for child support. If he stops seeing her that's on him. That's great he is providing diapers and wipes but that's not enough

I see you say hes helping maybe sit him down and discuss a payment arrangement tonight like he will pay this you pay that and diapers wipes etc will be equal and show it to the court as that is what you guys would like and agree to doing... Maybe if he has more say he will stay around not be pissed ya know...

If he does that then he is simply an smurf is all, and you don't need the dickhead.
