Medicaid Question

posted 13th Nov
I posted this in the wrong spot before...

Would they just use medicaid as secondary. I have been looking into it and I don't understand it. Can someone help me?!

Family Size: in determining the family size for All Kids, count the following family members who live together:

1) The applicants boyfriend or girlfriend if they have a child in common living in the house with them.

2) Do not count the unborn child of the pregnant woman in the family size. All kids will automatically increase the household size to include the nber of unborn babies based on proof of pregnancy.

So what does this mean?? Do they count my boyfriends income or not cause baby isn't born yet?

They will count his income if he lives with you.

If you live together and pay bills together, regardless of having children together, they include income from both parties. So yes, they would include his income.

Yes, if you are living together.

Also, if you already have insurance, Medicaid will be secondary (if that's what you're asking, I'm not sure). I had this happen because I was covered under my parents' insurance but my son wasn't.

Yes they will do Medicaid as secondary

And I believe they have to include all of the household income regardless if you have any living children together

Not necessarily. Only the other parent of either the living or unborn child. I lived with my parents and they didn't count my parents' income.

Okay, I was just wondering. I was so confused. I called the lady at public aid and she said they didn't count his income until after baby is born. Every time i call its a different story. So, I'm not see how to fill out the app.

I would include his income, that way it's there if they need it. If not, they'll just ignore it. And then they'll have it when the baby is born. If you don't send it and they end up needing it, then the process will be delayed further because they have to send you a letter in the mail requesting the information and wait for you to mail it back.

That is how it goes here. When I was pregnant with LO I used it as a secondary to my TriCare through my dad.

I live with my boyfriend, but because we're not married, they didn't include his income.

Is he the father of your child? In that case, they will...if you live together and have a child together.

They didn't even ask if my boyfriend was the father of my baby when I went in last week. They only needed to verify the child support I get for my youngest since she is the only one of my three kids who does not have insurance(her dad is my second husband)...I think it all depends on the guidelines of the state you're in.
