So I'm still kinda up in the air with it.
If I'm not approved what are some other options?

Paying out of pocket or making payments to the hospital

That's what I was fearing, I hope the hospital has a payment plan

I don't know about other states, but in NY we have Child Health Plus/Family Health Plus...if you make too much to qualify for Medicaid, you might qualify for one of those and the monthly fee is based on your income. It's usually a very small amount.

Okay! I will look into that!
What does it mean in regards to household size when the application says:
"The applicants boyfriend or girlfriend if they have a child in common living with them."

I called and I spoke to a really really nice lady! She said the State of Illinois does not hold a boyfriend responsible of me. They would count my income only and when baby is born, he/she will automatically be on Medicaid for a year. At the one year mark that's when they will ask if my boyfriend is helping out and they will count his income.
They also will not go after the boyfriend, and he will not get into trouble, as long as I state he is helping out!
My regular insurance will not cover pregnancy so medicaid will be used as secondary insurance.
I feel sooo much better now.

Yes god forbid anyone should have to pay for anything medical.
quoteposted 15th Nov
In most other developed countries, people don't pay for anything medical. Access to affordable healthcare should be a right, not a privilege. That's what Medicaid is there for. Who are you to judge her for using it? We just had to apply for it because my husband lost his job. He carried our insurance and I'm 8 months pregnant...so even though we planned for this baby, smurf happens, and we sure as hell can't afford to pay for the birth out of pocket.

Thank you Liz!!
People are so quick to judge. She doesn't know my story, and god forbid something happen to her that she needed it!
