Normal changes during period?

This may be TMI or odd but I'm curious. I started my period a day late Sunday night. I just took a tampon out and there was next to nothing on it. My cycle is normally longer so I decided to check up there with my finger. It was very tight and almost like I couldn't get my finger up very far. I've never noticed this before so just curious if it's a normal change during your cycle.
