Gotta agree with this.

My father probably would have done everything this girls mother did, but he was also a verbally abusive smurf who never passed up an opportunity to tell me how worthless and stupid I was. You just don't really know anything about anyone's life from the outside looking in.

She can't be that horrible of a mom if she even goes into her kid's room to pick up her laundry for her and wash it at that age.

Yeah but she also questioned her multiple times about being pregnant, made her take pregnancy tests, etc.
And a little blood around the toilet does not constitute emergency. Neither does a miscarriage.
So yeah I think she obviously cared a lot and was worried about her daughter.

If she didn't love and support her she wouldnt have taken her to the hospital over a litttle blood.
I;m assuming it was only a little blood because the girl cleaned everything up before leaving the bathroom.

I wasn't aware that a 14 year old could be considered a fully competent "big girl".

Competent no.
But if a girl is gonna have sex, she needs to know that stuff like this could happen and take responsibility for it. Not kill the baby.

I think her being prosecuted as an adult and giving her the help she needs while in prison is fair. Like I said, waayyy too many murderers and criminals are let off with a slap on their wrist. People need to learn that you can't get away with murder, you can't get away with armed robbery or rape or diddling children. They need to be punished.

I didn't read about her mother discovering it though, but those are the only two articles I've read about this case.

Just because an article doesn't state it doesn't mean it didn't happen. It says she cleaned herself and the baby. Why would she spend 8 months hiding her belly and lying about being pregnant then give birth in the bathroom, kill the baby, and hide the body under her freaking bed if she was just going to leave blood all over the bathroom to be found???

Her age is not an excuse. There are 14 yr olds that murder adults and get charged as an adult. She murdered a newborn. She had options and she didn't take those options. Murder is murder. Her life/environment is no excuse. I grew up smurffy with abuse and neglect and if I had been pregnant I wouldn't have murdered my newborn even if it meant getting beat if it was found out I was pregnant.

I honestly don't think those were the actions of a normal, sane person.

I think she should be assessed for mental issues and treated accordingly

Thats why the courts have already made that decision. Obviously they saw enough to charge her as an adult.

If we're going to start charging kids as adults based on the heinousness of the crime, then we should just do away with guidelines based on age in the first place because it will all be subjective.

Wonder how many of you called for the death penalty for George Zimmerman because he killed a "kid." They're not kids anymore when they commit a crime themselves then, eh?
