Austism linked to Vaccinations? Poll.

posted 13th Nov
Do you believe the two are linked? My mom seems to think they are. Her reasoning is that when my brother was born (he's 28 now) autism was 1 in 1,000 children now it's 1 in 100. I've never done the actual research. I was just curious if some of you have.

I would think its more related to the "food" we have and all the things that are put into that and not the vaccinations.

The "studies" that were done, were falsified, the data was faked. The theory has been debunked.

"Since that time, 18 controlled epidemiological studies have investigated the possible connection between autism and vaccines, and "they have all come back showing the same thing," says Alison Singer, founder and president of the Autism Science Foundation, and a mother of a 13-year-old with autism. "There is no link between vaccines and autism.""

Research shows that it is NOT linked. And the reason Autism is now 1 in 100 is because we are now able to diagnose it correctly. 28 years ago there were just as many kids with Autism, they were just undiagnosed.

I wish I knew what caused it so I can avoid it.   Can't answer though. I don't really have an opinion.

I saw this on Private Practice. This woman refused to vaccinate her other children because one got autism and was vaccinated. Then one of the kids died from the measles or something because she refused to vacc them. She was afraid of her other children becoming autistic.

But no, I don't believe that. IF the rate has gone up it's only because they have found better ways at diagnosing it.

It's complete BS. Studies have shown autism starts developing in the brain while still in utero.

No they are not related. The only reason I delayed some vaccinations for my daughter was because A)They really wanted to give her too many shots in just one sitting and B)I didn't see the rush, because she was never in any kind of daycare around other children.
But she is not almost 3 and completely up to date on all of her shots.
No autism.

No, if your child is going to have autism is going to have it regardless. I read somewhere that the older you are when you get pregnant the risks are higher for autism. Who knows.

Nope. I've never believed it.
I just heard the other day that a study in Denmark has shown a link between coming down with the flu (these were confirmed influenza cases I believe) during pregnancy and autism. I'm so curious to know more, heh.

They have also changed the diagnosing criteria. Before, I think it was 1994, to be autistic you had to have a low enough IQ to be mentally retarded. There are many reasons why the rate of diagnosed cases has risen over the years.

I've never really bought into the idea of vaccinations causing autism either. Another question. Which vaccinations do you opt out of? Do you believe any are unnecessary?

The link the studies are suggesting has more to do with an extended high fever than the flu virus itself.
