Dramatic daycare

posted 13th Nov
My son's daycare called me saying I must come immediately to get him because he has "open sores and possible chicken pox". I get there and they show me two small marks on his belly that look like bug bites and a diaper rash   Is it just me or is this ridiculous? I work in a therapeutic preschool and I don't know if it's because we work with a lot of kids who don't get the best health care but I've seen WAY worse and would never send home a kid who wasn't sick and had a bug bite and a diaper rash and freak out and turn it into chicken pox. I left work and took him to the doctor who laughed and told me I should bring him back and go back to work but I figured I'm already home with him and don't want to do that to him.

Um my son was in daycare and they waited until he was practically lethargic to call me and tell me he was sick. He was 6 months old and when I got there he was asleep in the high chair, burning up with fever. I could barely even wake him up! He ended up having RSV.

Daycares are crazy.

I would rather them be proactive then negligent.

Quoting Chuck Bass:" Um my son was in daycare and they waited until he was practically lethargic to call me and tell me he ... [snip!] ... asleep in the high chair, burning up with fever. I could barely even wake him up! He ended up having RSV. Daycares are crazy."

That's terrible. It seems like they are either one extreme or the other. I could see if he was covered in marks but it was so obvious that it was a diaper rash and two bug bites.

Yea a lil overreacting on their part but the daycare I worked at never called parents if the kid was sick from both ends or if infants had rsv. They never separated the kids either. I'd much rather have overreaction than no reaction at all.
