Paleo-Life Style Change

posted 13th Nov
Hey everyone! I was recently told about the Paleo Diet. I am starting this diet today and if anyone wants to join me then feel free to! I will post some links on what it is, what to buy when on a budget and the clean and dirty veggies and fruits. (If dirty then you should buy organic when possible).

This thread is for anyone willing to make a life-style change with eating habits and working out if you want to add that as well!

I am having a spinach leaf salad with tomatoes, cauliflower, grilled chicken, broccoli, cut up hard boiled eggs, and balsamic vinaigrette dressing for lunch today..mmm! And I'm thinking about making all my meals for the week on Sundays. That way everything is ready! And I could even freeze some meals. Anyone have tips on that?

We eat a lot of the foods involved with paleo. I take things from that lifestyle & clean eating. I like both & I'm not willing to give up some things that are extremely good for you that Paleo tells you to aoid; like quinoa, lentils, barley, buckwheat, blackbeans and garbonzo beans. Also, Kefir yogurt is great for boosting your immune system.
But, otherwise I love it!

I don't eat carbs, so I eat a lot of the same types of foods that are in the Paleo diet.

Good luck, OP!

Thank you! I can't wait to see if it will help with a ton of issues I'm having. Like acne, difficulty losing weight, my period disappearing, extreme fatigue, no energy...and so on lol. I have been researching it all day and supposedly peoples health issues seem to go away once making this life style change

The key is not cheating. If you eat Paleo all day and then scarf down 3 cookies right before bed, you've ruined your whole day. You have to be 100% committed.

I do feel more energy when not eating carbs (even though people will tell you that you need carbs for energy...not true). People's health problems probably start disappearing because they are eating whole, natural foods instead of the processed crap that our society accepts as normal.

Yeah makes sense! I really want to stick with this. My only problems I will have is the cost..but I'm trying to follow "tricks" of how to make it work. I want to not only feel better, but look better too!

Yeah, our food budget is $800 per month and I still struggle to keep it under that.

I buy chicken and beef in bulk at Costco. If I don't get it there, I try to catch it when it's been marked down (a couple days old and most places will cut the price down to try and get rid of it before it goes bad). I eat a ton of eggs, which are fairly cheap, and I try to get local produce because it's cheaper (mostly a summer thing).

$800???? Damn! Lol. If I had that much to spend on groceries than I wouldn't have an issue AT ALL haha

That includes things like diapers and toilet paper. And it includes any eating out.

Basically I have $120 per week at the grocery store, $45 per weekend for a date and $150 at Costco. It works out to $810.

Last month I went over by $300...lol, oops.

Are you going to feed your family Paleo foods or just yourself?

That's usually our monthly amount too.
